All-Ireland champions lead the way at AIB GAA club players awards

All-Ireland champions Watty Grahams, of Derry, lead the way with six players on the AIB GAA club football team of the year, while it's same figure for hurling winners, Galway's St Thomas'.

Conor Glass (Watty Grahams, Glen), Ben O'Carroll St Brigid's) and Shane Walsh (Kilmacud Crokes) have been nominated for the club footballer of the year, with winner to be confirmed at Friday's awards ceremony in Croke Park.

Glen go one better with dramatic win over St Brigid's in All-Ireland final

Beaten football finalists St Brigid's (Roscommon) have four players included, with semi-finalists Castlehaven and Kilmacud Crokes picking up one and two awards respectively.

Rory Beggan is the sole representative from Scotstown and will be in attendance on the night following his participation in the NFL's international combine in Indianapolis on Sunday. Alongside Naas' Darragh Kirwan, he's one of just two players to represent a club that didn't win its provincial title.

On the hurling selection, Ballygunner's Dessie Hutchinson has picked his third award, while beaten finalists O'Loughlin Gaels come away with four selections.

Hutchinson is one of three players from the Munster champions to be included, while fellow All-Ireland semi-finalists Cushendall were rewarded with two picks.

Like the football, the hurler of the year will be announced on Friday evening, with Paddy Deegan (O'Loughlin Gaels), David Burke (St Thomas') and David Fogarty (O'Loughlin Gaels) having been nominated.
