"All I ever wanted to be was a mum": The heartbreaking statements read by distraught families at Lucy Letby's sentencing

The distraught parents of Lucy Letby's victims read out heartbreaking statements in court today ahead of her sentencing - describing her as 'evil' and 'disconnected from God'.

The families told the killer 'you are nothing' as the child murderer refused to appear in court for sentencing. Some sobbed as they read out their devastating statements to Mr Justice Goss, who will hand down Letby's sentence at Manchester Crown Court later.

More than a dozen relatives of Letby’s victims sat in the public gallery for the hearing on Monday and eight jurors returned to see the sentencing.

"We never got to hold [our baby] while [they] were alive because you took [them] away. Our minds are traumatised that it won’t let us
