Aljamain Sterling vs Petr Yan 3: Everything We Know So Far

Aljamain Sterling has already taken two wins over Petr Yan, but fans are expecting there to be another contest between the two inside the UFC octagon.

Sterling took the contest via disqualification back at UFC 259 after Yan threw an illegal knee. Despite that, Yan appeared to be dominating the contest and most likely would’ve got the win if it went to the judge’s scorecards.

The second contest between the two men ended with Sterling winning via split decision, but even UFC President Dana White said that the decision went the wrong way.

Here’s everything that we currently know about the potential third showdown between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan in the UFC.

Speaking to Joe Rogan on the PPV stream, we said: “I think I won this fight and I got robbed. I think I won three rounds out of five. I want a rematch.”

Minutes after the UFC 273 contest, Yan said that he believed he had won the fight 3-2 and that they needed to do a rematch.

Despite the UFC President saying that the judges got the decision wrong in the second fight, he does not see Sterling vs Yan 3 taking place just yet.

Speaking at the UFC 273 Post Fight Press Conference, he said: “I thought the judges blew that one. I had it 3-2 the other way. I don’t know how you guys scored it but I guess it’s all on how you scored that first round.

“No, I think you do…[have Sterling vs Yan 3 next] Listen, that fight’s going to be there, Petr Yan is one of the baddest dudes in that division. But you probably do the TJ [Dillashaw] fight.”

With that in mind, it is likely that we will see the UFC Bantamweight Champion Sterling now go on to face TJ Dillashaw next.
