Alfredo Morelos reveals special Rangers gong as striker shares award recognition from inside bash

Outgoing Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has revealed he scooped an award at the club's annual player of the year awards.

The striker missed the 3-1 win over Hibs but he headed to social media to show his gong for being the club's all time top goalscorer in Europe due to his efforts during six years in Glasgow. Unlike the other winners, Rangers didn’t publicise the Colombian’s prize on their socials. Morelos will exit as a free agent with Michael Beale ushering in a new era in a bid to take on Celtic for Scottish football's major honours next season.

It's been a challenging season for the striker as he has managed only 12 strikes in all competitions – the third consecutive campaign where he has been unable to break 20-goal contributions at Ibrox. But Morelos' place in Ibrox lore was recognised with an award from the evening in Glasgow where James Tavernier earned player of the year recognition after another stellar season.

Morelos is among a host of stars set for the exit door with Ryan Kent, Scott Arfield and Filip Helander also nearing the end of the Ibrox contracts. Beale landed Todd Cantwell and Nico Raskin in January with Jack Butland, Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling closing in on joining the Londoner's revamp. Ecuador international Joe Cifuentes is also on the Rangers radar with the star keen to make the switch.
