Alfredo Morelos faces Atletico Nacional punishment as former Rangers striker learns fate from horror smash
Alfredo Morelos has been disciplined by his club Atletico Nacional after crashing a car while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
The former Rangers star joined the Colombian side on a loan deal from Santos in Brazil back in July, but was allegedly found to have consumed the equivalent of five beers after he collided with biker on the road while he was on his way to training on October 23. Victim Sebastian Davila, 27, suffered multiple injuries to his legs, hands and ribs as well as internal fissures from the crash that has sparked fears that he may never walk again.
Medellin club Nacional have now released a statement confirming their intent to punish Morelos, but have not revealed just what kind of disciplinary action the ex-Ibrox striker will face. Their statement read: "Our institution has been aware from the first moment of the situation related to the traffic accident, which occurred on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, in which our player Alfredo Morelos was involved.
"We are deeply saddened by what happened and that leads us to stand in solidarity with the person who was injured and his family, to whom we extend our best wishes for his speedy recovery. In accordance with the above, we inform that, guaranteeing the due process of the player and in line with the institution's protocols and processes, we reviewed the facts comprehensively, made the pertinent analyses and exhausted the disciplinary instances of the Club, which led us to take disciplinary corrective measures in accordance with the provisions of our internal work regulations, which have already been communicated to the player Alfredo Morelos.
