Alfredo Morelos charity gesture as Rangers striker lays on huge event while he takes to field at Hampden

Alfredo Morelos has organised a football festival named 'Goals that Save Lives' - that will take place while he is in action during the League Cup Final at Hampden.

The Rangers striker has a charity foundation set up in his name and he's teamed up with Colombia teammate Miguel Angel Borja and woman's team star Leicy Santos to provide more than 30 coaches for the huge grassroots football event which will take place across the entire weekend in Morelos' home city of Cerete. The Alfredo Morelos Foundation, which he set up in 2019, has been one of the primary organisers of the event which is aimed at raising money for the local area and "transforming the lives" of vulnerable children.

The tournament has been in the works since December and a statement from the organisers stated: "The aim is to get the boys and girls of the area to enjoy playing football and get a message across. There will be over 30 coaches who will help in football development and social transformation.

"The Goals that Save Lives festival will teach the kids football training and raise a lot of money for the area. We aim to transform the lives of vulnerable children whose families lack the income to guarantee optimal living conditions."

Through his foundation, Morelos has raised thousands of pounds for underprivileged kids in his local area and regularly returns home to visit the complex he set up.

The event takes place across the entire weekend while Morelos gets ready for the Viaplay Cup showdown with Celtic on Sunday. He looks likely to start having been restored as Michael Beale's main No.9 as Rangers look for their first piece of silverware this season.
