Alfa Romeo reveals striking livery for new Formula 1 car ahead of 2023 season

The Alfa Romeo Sauber Formula 1 team unveiled its livery for the upcoming season, with the car adopting a striking paintwork that also pays homage to its new sponsor, Stake.

As such, the team will officially be known as Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake as it looks to improve on the sixth-place finish it achieved in 2022.

According to Jan Monchauz, the team's Technical Director, most of the focus went into the C43's rear - changing the axle and suspension setup - while also redesigning the gearbox casing. The car's front, though, will be developed progressively as the season continues while not disregarding the rear.

"I am very proud of what we have achieved over these last months, because creating a new car is always a massive effort from the team. This car is an evolution of last year's, reflecting the new regulations and introducing major changes in the areas where we found improvements to be needed," said Monchaux.

Can Alfa improve?

The Alfa Romeo F1 team is at the start of a massive transition period as technical partner Sauber undertook a new venture with Audi; starting in 2026. This effectively means that Alfa Romeo will fall by the wayside, with the Italian automaker's F1 involvement ending after rejoining the sport in 2018.

The next three seasons, however, will be important as the team builds to the new regulations coming into play in '26, gradually developing the car and edging closer to the front of the grid. 2022 was a good year for the team, but it is not oblivious to the fact that the field will be a lot closer this year.
