Alfa Romeo reveal target for 2022 Formula 1 season

Alfa Romeo team principal Frederic Vasseur says that his team is eyeing P7 this year in the Constructors’ championship in Formula 1.

A new era begins in the sport and, for Alfa, there are more changes than most with an all-new driver line-up taking to the grid.

Valtteri Bottas is joined by rookie Guanyu Zhou for the new season, and they’ll be looking to get further into the midfield mix if they can in 2022.

Indeed, Vasseur seems to be targeting exactly that for his team:

“The most important thing is to improve, always to improve and close the gap with the best ones on the grid.

“You can have different KPIs in terms of performance, but for sure we are fighting for the championship and, at the end of the day, the final target is to improve the championship position.

“We had a poor season last year with P9 and we want to do much better this season, but I also want to close the gap in terms of pure performance – because this is the reality of the job of the people back at the factory If it comes to numbers, I would say that P7 would be a decent target.”
