Alfa Romeo: F1 team addresses fears car is running behind schedule

Alfa Romeo has moved to address fears that their 2022 car is running behind schedule, with them saying that there are no such issues at present.

Alfa will be hoping to use the 2022 regulations set to come into play in Formula 1 to their advantage, as they aim to climb into a more competitive setting in the midfield at the very least.

They have Valtteri Bottas in their corner, now, after he left Mercedes and he will be looking to use that experience to drive the team forwards, alongside Chinese rookie Guanyu Zhou.

Certainly, it’s going to be interesting how the team’s all-new driver line-up gets on after the respective exits of Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Raikkonen, and they’ll be hoping things are as smooth as possible.

Indeed, they’ll be pleased to hear that Alfa have clarified why the launch date of their car is after the first test in Barcelona, with that fact sparking fears they wouldn’t be making the first set of sessions.

Instead, Alfa will run a testing livery over their new 2022 car, before officially unveiling its new look on the 27th of February:

“We will have a testing livery in use before we reveal the race livery on Sunday the 27th,” an Alfa Romeo spokesperson is quoted by the Finnish newspaper Ilta Sanomat.
