Alexander-Arnold hails Liverpool season as 'one of the best' ever

Trent Alexander-Arnold believes that Liverpool's season should be recognised as one of the best ever even if the Reds do not win the Premier League.

The title race will be decided on the final day of the campaign, with Liverpool currently trailing reigning champions Manchester City by one point.

Jurgen Klopp's side host Wolves and City are at home to Aston Villa in Sunday's crunch fixtures.

Having already won the FA Cup and League Cup, the Reds would complete a domestic treble if they did lift the title and then the Champions League final against Real Madrid would give them the chance to achieve an unprecedented quadruple.

By the end of May, they will have played in every match possible this season - 63 in total - in what has been a mammoth year for the club.

'To push the way we have all in competitions this season, it's got to be for me one of the best team performances over the course of a season in Premier League history,' Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports.

'We've taken every trophy to the last game so that's all you can really ask for. It's been a special achievement, no matter what happens on Sunday.'

Liverpool were 14 points behind Manchester City at one stage in January and Pep Guardiola's side seemingly had one hand already on the trophy.

But the Reds have roared back into contention and earned 47 points from the last 51 available, providing fans with a thrilling title race in the process.

'When there's seven or eight fixtures to go, you think surely someone's got to drop a few points,' Alexander-Arnold said.

'We have, but it's been quite even. You think back to January and we were miles behind them and we've fought back, got ourselves into an amazing position.'
