Aldo, McGregor, Holloway, Volkanovski: Ranking the greatest featherweights in MMA history

Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway are set to finally get it on in a blockbuster trilogy bout.

The Australian MMA fighter will throw down with his old featherweight rival for a third time on July 2 in the co-main event of UFC 276 in Las Vegas.

But Holloway – who recently got married to his long-time partner Alessa Quizon – insists neither of them can lay claim to being the 145lb GOAT.

That is because he says Jose Aldo – the former UFC and WEC featherweight champion – is the only one who deserves such recognition.

“We’re not that far behind him. Hopefully, I can catch him, we’ll see what happens. He’s the GOAT, bro.

“You can’t take it away. Just because he got gifted it, the event that the UFC bought out and he was the champion, it wasn’t a gift. I’m sure if they told him, ‘Hey you’ve got to fight for the belt.’

“He would’ve fought for the belt. That’s just the kind of guy Aldo is. Standup guy, hard worker, and hard fighter and the GOAT.”

So with that in mind, GiveMeSport.com has ranked the greatest featherweights of all time.

Here, we run through the top 10 (with a little help from our friends over at Tapology).

Like Holloway says, put some respect on this man’s name.
