Aldi shoppers go mad for new addition to freezer section labelled 'genius idea'

Aldi's latest frozen aisle addition has sent shoppers into a frenzy. The budget supermarket announced a classic Christmas dinner with a twist is now being sold in stores.

Taking to Instagram, Aldi's official account revealed it's stocking festive pies; pigs in blankets and all the trimmings encased in pastry. Posting a photo of the product, Aldi wrote in the caption: "NEW IN FOR CHRISTMAS. It's no secret that we LOVE pigs in blankets... so much so that we put them in a pie... Grab our Festive Pies in store now!"

The pies are filled with chicken breast, gravy, a pig in blanket and vegetables. The pie has a shortcrust pastry and a puff pastry lid.

The pies come in packs of two and cost £2.49. Shoppers were impressed with the new Christmas addition. Taking to the Instagram comments, @paulasimmons50 said: "Absolute genius idea" as @gracielou_87 gushed: "These are amazing".

@melissafisher92 tagged a friend and exclaimed: "what a pie!" as @anne.collins.77 commented: "Look so good, will have to go get some". @blood_ritual_ said: "I NEED".

Some had already tried the delicious pastry, as @bexyboo1976 wrote: "These are lovely" and @griffithsjo34 agreed: "Tried these tonight, very nice". @gleeson.lynda reckoned: "Gorgeous! Need these all year!!"

It comes as earlier this month, Aldi confirmed it would be stocking its popular Kevin the Carrot stuffed toys once again this Christmas. The star of Aldi's festive adverts, shoppers
