Aldi, ASDA, Tesco, M&S, Sainsbury's and Morrisons change shopping rules for the Queen's funeral

Every major supermarket in the UK has issued rule changes ahead of the Queen's funeral next Monday (September 19). Next Monday is officially a Bank Holiday and to mark it, many major UK supermarkets, including Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's, Aldi, and Morrisons have altered how they normally operate.

While some supermarkets have announced they will close completely, others have decided to shut for the duration of the funeral. Last night, Aldi announced that all stores will remain shut for the entire day on Monday 19th September.

Tesco, ASDA and Morrisons have all said they will close for four hours on the day of the funeral. Marks and Spencer (M&S) will close its clothing stores on Monday, and it has been reported that the retailer is looking at how it can close food stores to mark the occasion.

Here is everything we know about what the major UK supermarkets are doing on the day of the Queen's funeral:

Asda said it will shut all its stores until 5pm on the day to allow employees to watch the funeral.

An Asda spokesman said: "As a mark of respect for Her Majesty The Queen, all Asda stores will be closed on Monday September 19 until 5pm to allow our customers and colleagues to recognise the passing of our late monarch and commemorate her steadfast service to our nation."

Asda will not be offering online deliveries on September 19. The spokesperson added: "All our stores will close by midnight on Sunday September 18 and reopen at 5pm on Monday September 19."

Large Tesco supermarkets will close all day, and smaller Express stores will shut until 5pm.
