As we celebrate the end of 2023 - and the start of a new year - supermarkets and shops are expected to get busy.

After shelves and cupboards were depleted over Christmas, many people will be heading back out to make sure they have enough food and drink to mark the arrival of 2024.

Opening hours for such Aldi, Morrisons, Lidl, Tesco and Asda are expected to vary with some stores shutting completely on New Year's Day. If you are planning a trip to the supermarket on New Year's Eve or New Year's Dat here are all the opening hours for stores including Aldi, ASDA, Tesco, M&S, Lidl, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Waitrose and Booths.

Aldi shut its stores on Boxing Day to give staff a day off, and will be doing so again in New Year's Day. Store times may vary by location so shoppers should the store finder to find their local store.

Opening times for Asda depend on the branch you visit, so it's a good idea to check the store locator before shopping. Below are the hours for ASDA Eastlands and ASDA Trafford Park for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
