Albion Rovers will need to get physical to overcome Hearts B, says Sandy Clark

Boss Sandy Clark hopes getting physical with Hearts B can help Albion Rovers sink the young Jambos and maintain their unbeaten run in the Lowland League this weekend.

The Cliftonhill outfit are on a streak of seven games without defeat and, after having a week off, face Hearts B on Saturday looking to extend that.

They go into the game off the back of a big 5-0 win over Stirling Uni in their last league outing and sit eighth in the table, but Clark knows 11th place Hearts will pose them plenty of problems with their youthful energy.

And to counteract that, Clark feels his more experienced side can use their physicality to come up trumps.

He said: “Hearts are young boys, really fit and quick. There’s talented players there who have earned a full-time contract with a Premiership club.

“What they have on top of that is good coaching and good organisation, so we know it will be difficult.

“The one thing they lack is a bit of physicality, which is something that we’ve got to try and take advantage of during the game.

“It is really about what we do. If we can get to the levels that we have reached in recent games, then there’s a real chance we can win the game.”

Despite the unbeaten run, Clark is frustrated that four of them have been draws and feels they need to make sure they get more wins on the board, with a trip to Civil Service Strollers also coming up on Tuesday night.

He added: “The problem has been our inconsistency. We are seven or eight games unbeaten but there’s too many draws in there. If we turn those into wins, we’d be in a position to challenge for the league.
