Albion Rovers need wins now to get out of the mire in League Two, says Brian Reid

Brian Reid has warned his Albion Rovers players it is imperative they start picking up wins after a defeat at Stranraer saw them fall three points adrift of Annan at the bottom of the League Two table.

Rovers took the lead at Stair Park through Charlie Reilly in 24 minutes but were pegged back just two minutes later when Scott Robertson equalised for the Blues.

Airdrie loanee Salim Kouider-Aissa earned Stranraer victory in the 78th minute to leave Rovers with just one win in eight games this season.

And Reid said: “We need to start winning games to get back on track, as we’ve not performed in terms of points.

“We need to do that to get ourselves out of the mire. It’s at the stage where we need to win games before we become too detached.

“A couple of wins can make a big difference. Stranraer were a point ahead of us not long ago, but two wins and now they are up to fourth so we need to concentrate on going on a run.

“There is a long way to go and a lot of football to be played.

“We never really played well first half and got the goal against the run of play a wee bit, but we didn’t hold the lead for more than a couple of minutes. That is just not good enough.”

On Saturday Rovers host Bonnyrigg – the only side they have beaten in the league so far – and Reid added: “We know we are capable of beating anyone in this division, so it doesn’t matter if it is Bonnyrigg or Dumbarton.

“We’ve told the players in no uncertain terms we need to start winning games and produce performances collectively.”
