Albion Rovers boss looking for divine intervention amid more injury woes

Albion Rovers boss Brian Reid reckons they could do with some divine intervention to get them out of trouble in League Two – after he was left cursing yet more bad luck with injuries in Saturday’s defeat to Annan Athletic.

Star player Charlie Reilly missed the 2-0 loss, which came courtesy of strikes from Josh Galloway and Tommy Muir in the last seven minutes of the match, with a strain and Reid now has Max Wright to add to his lengthy casualty list after he hobbled off with a calf problem just a couple of weeks after returning to the squad after months on the sidelines.

And Reid, whose side are four points clear of bottom side Bonnyrigg Rose having played a game more, sighed: “Somebody up there doesn’t like us because the amount of bad luck we have had with injuries - and this is not an excuse - I’ve never known anything like it.

“Somebody up there needs to be looking down on Albion Rovers kindly soon because we must be due some breaks.

“We just seem to have more bad luck than any team.

“Not once in the last couple of years have I had a full squad to choose from.

“You look at other managers and they’ve got hardly any injuries, hardly any suspensions.

“We are down to the bare bones and it doesn’t help our cause. We didn’t want to risk Charlie because I’d rather he miss one game than risk him missing three or four.

“That was a major blow because he is our top-scorer by a long way this season and the top player for assists as well.

”Max is feeling a calf strain again so we add him to the lengthy list of injuries.
