Alarming stat shows Erik ten Hag has been unable to solve Manchester United’s biggest problem

Sir Alex Ferguson noted in February that Manchester United needed to sign someone in the summer who could help share the goal scoring burden with Marcus Rashford.

The England international had just popped the champagne on the Wembley turf after heading home in the 2-0 League Cup final win over Newcastle. He ended the season with a personal career high of 30 goals, the first United player to reach the milestone since Robin van Persie a decade earlier.

Van Persie was one of Sir Alex’s final high-profile transfers before his 2013 retirement. United have not reached the promised land of lifting the Premier League title since his final season and Erik ten Hag is not about to break this barren run this term.

He is yet to find the net in the Premier League after 10 matches, with the season now in December. Quite rightly, the lack of service has been highlighted as an issue. However, the time is soon coming where Hojlund will have to look inwardly too if this duck continues.
