Alan Shearer left dumbfounded by Celtic as Micah Richards stunned into silence by Parkhead 'scenes'

Alan Shearer couldn't believe what he was seeing from Celtic against Bayern Munich.

The Hoops lost the first leg of their Champions League playoff round tie against the Bundesliga ginats 2-1 on Wednesday night, and head to Munich at least still in the with a shout after Daizen Maeda's late header halved the deficit following goals from Michael Olise and Harry Kane either side of half-time.

But former England star Shearer believes Brendan Rodgers' side were the masters of their ow downfall when it came to the second goal. Kane was left all alone at the back post at an early second half corner, and the former Tottenham captain ruthlessly volleyed home to knock the stuffing out of the hosts and ensure Bayern head back to the Allianz for next week's second leg with a lead. He said: "I saw the goals, I saw the highlights so I didn't watch a lot of it.

"I saw Harry Kane stood in the fix yard box with no-one around him from a corner, which I thought what on earth? And he finished it off brilliantly."

Meanwhile Micah Richards admitted the pre-match atmosphere rendered the CBS studio speechless before kick-off. The ex-Man City man was on duty for the American broadcaster and revealed that the usual pre-match chat was ditched so they can savour a Parkhead anthem before kick-off.
