Alabama's Kinley Rasmus sets Little League World Series hits record - ESPN

Kinley Rasmus continues to deliver record-breaking moments both on the mound and at the plate in her historic march through the Little League Baseball World Series.

One day after she tied the LLWS record for total strikeouts by a girl, Kinley, a 12-year-old shortstop and pitcher for Phenix City (Alabama), broke the record for most total hits by a girl Tuesday with her fifth of the tournament.

The record-breaking hit came in the fifth inning of a 4-2 win over Tacoma (Washington) in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Phenix City has won three straight, and it advanced to an elimination game Wednesday, when Kinley can add to her totals.

One of two girls competing in this year's tournament, Kinley tied Mo'ne Davis' girls' LLWS single-game strikeouts record of eight last week in Phenix City's opening-round loss to Tacoma, allowing just one hit in six scoreless innings.

Back on the mound Monday, she added six more strikeouts in a win over Pennsylvania to bring her record-tying tournament total to 14.

Kinley is the daughter of former MLB pitcher Cory Rasmus.
