Al-Nassr denied request to renew contracts, reports say
DUBAI: The Saudi Pro League’s Financial Control Committee has rejected a request from Al-Nassr’s request to renew the contracts of several youth team players.
The news was reported on Friday by Arriyadiyah Aajel, the breaking news account of Arabic daily newspaper Arriyadiyah on social media platform X.
The committee has told Al-Nassr’s management that new contracts could not be signed or existing ones renewed during the current period, which sees the club under financial restriction for accumulated debts.
The instructions emphasized that the financial control procedures apply to all of the club’s teams and are not limited to the first team. The committee also stressed that signing any contract during the period of oversight would subject the club to additional penalties.
Citing its own sources, Arriyadiyah reported on Aug. 13 that contrary to some earlier reports, Al-Nassr’s management had not received approval from the Financial Control Committee to renew a number of contracts, including those of Raghed Al-Najjar and Abdulrahman Ghareeb.
The reigning SPL champions are under financial control due to debts exceeding $213m (SAR800m).
