Al-Hilal’s coach Inzaghi eyes Italian star Bastoni
Al-Hilal’s Italian coach Simone Inzaghi has expressed a strong interest in signing compatriot Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan during the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sport Italia.
As reported by Saudi sports daily Arriyadiyah, the Italian channel has indicated that Al-Hilal’s management has not yet submitted an official offer for the 27-year-old defender.
Inzaghi previously coached Bastoni during his three seasons as coach of Inter Milan and before his move to Al-Hilal in 2025. Under Inzaghi, Inter Milan won the Serie A title in 2023-2024 and finished runners-up in the Champions League twice, in 2023 and 2025.
Bastoni joined Inter Milan from Atalanta in August 2017. His current market value is estimated at about $75 million, according to the website Transfermarkt.
Bastoni has played 43 international matches for his nation, the first of which was in November 2020. He was also part of the Italy squad which beat England 3-2 on penalties at Wembley Stadium to win Euro 2020. The tournament took place in the summer of 2021 after a one-year delay due to the global pandemic.
