Ajax plunged into chaos as furious yobs lob objects on to the pitch forcing TWO Utrecht clash suspensions
Struggling Ajax saw their match with Utrecht suspended TWICE as tensions with the fans reached boiling point once again.
The Dutch giants have found themselves languising near the foot of the Eredivise table and face a relegation scrap this term - and the fury of the Amsterdam support spilled over onto the pitch once again at the Stadion Galgenwaard on Sunday afternoon. Ajax's rivals ramped up the pressure on manager Maurice Steijn as they ran out 4-3 winners during a thriller with Utrecht sub Oscar Luigi Fraulo netting the winner in the 90th minute.
It leaves the Dutch giants with just two wins in 12 matches and languishing in 17th place in the table. Play was suspended with the game level at 3-3 by referee Dennis Higler after a plastic cup was thrown onto the pitch. The first suspension led to eight minutes of added time with the game level at 3-3. The home side then scored the winner, sparking a second protest from the travelling support and forcing the man in the middle to suspend play again.
It's the second time this season that fans have derailed an Ajax game. Feyenoord were utterly dominant against their fierce rivals last month before the madness as the Rotterdam side led 3-0 at the break. And the rousing display from the visitors was too much for yobs in the home crowd with the Johan Cruyff Arena as their thuggish behaviour placed a black mark leading to the game being suspended as flares were thrown on the pitch.
