Ajax forward Antony responds to continued Manchester United interest
Ajax forward Antony has not ruled out a move to Manchester United this summer, although insists he is happy with the Dutch club and is not focused on a move to the Premier League.
The 22-year-old has been one of the Red Devils’ top attacking targets this summer, although his asking price has been a problem for United.
Initially it was thought Ajax wanted around £68m for the Brazil international, but his asking price was raised to £84m, with the Eredivisie champions not wanting to lose any more key players this summer.
Manchester United did not want to spend that much on the Brazilian, but they may be getting desperate after opening the season with defeats to Brighton and Brentford.
Antony has certainly not ended speculation when asked about Manchester United interest and whether his former manager, Erik ten Hag, is trying to tempt him to England.
‘Will Ten Hag call me? No idea,’ Antony told NOS. ‘He has to discuss this with my agents, I’m focused on here. What will come will come, we will see.
‘I feel good at Ajax. I give everything for this club, every minute, so I am loving this city and this club.’
