Ajax ace Mohammed Kudus has revealed his best position amid Manchester United transfer links

Ajax ace Mohammed Kudus has admitted that he prefers to operate as an attacking midfielder instead of a striker amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.

United, who will be looking to bounce back from their 7-0 drubbing to Liverpool when they host Real Betis in the Europa League on Thursday evening, have plans to bolster their attacking options with the addition of an elite-level centre-forward this forthcoming summer. The Reds have struggled to score goals at a rapid rate of knots this season and need to add to their forward line as a matter of urgency ahead of next season.

The Reds have already pinpointed Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as leading targets, with both players having gone from strength-to-strength in recent seasons. They are the leading choices among the fans, too.

However, manager Erik ten Hag is also a huge fan of Kudus, whom he worked with at Ajax, and believes he has the necessary attributes to thrive in the Premier League. The Ghanaian international, who scored twice at the World Cup in Qatar, has scored 17 goals in 34 appearances for Ajax this term, as well as chipping in with four assists.

Kudus, who is 22, is a highly versatile attacker, capable of operating in attacking midfield, out wide or up front. He has played in each of the three aforementioned roles this season, but has mostly been used as a centre-forward, which, of course, is the area United want to bolster in the summer.

However, earlier this season, the former FC Nordsjaelland ace admitted that he believes he is at his best playing as a No.10, even though he has played more frequently as a striker this term.
