AJ Styles names WWE Hall of Famer Edge as who he wants to face at WrestleMania

WrestleMania is around the corner, which means it’s time for AJ Styles to face another legend on the biggest stage of them all.

The Phenomenal One has already taken on Chris Jericho and The Undertaker at WWE’s show of shows and he is looking to add another legendary name to that impressive list.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani of BT Sports, the 44-year-old discussed his intention to finally get a one-on-one match with WWE Hall of Famer Edge.

“He’s so knowledgeable. He’s such a superstar. I would love to get the opportunity to get in the ring with him. There was that time when I thought there would never be an opportunity to wrestle him, and now, it’s here. The time is limited in which we can pull it off.

Whether he or I retire first, who knows, but I want to get that match. I desperately want to get that match. I think it’s the one that most fans would enjoy.”

Last month AJ spoke to WWE’s The Bump and suggested that a match between the pair is ‘getting close’ and when asked if he had spoken to The Rated R Superstar about the possible WrestleMania bout, Styles answered:

“Yes. The feeling is mutual. We just have to make it happen.”

Styles and Edge have never faced each other in singles competition, with their only in-ring interaction coming during the 2021 Royal Rumble, where Edge memorably speared the former WWE Champion and separated his shoulder. A match between the pair would certainly be befitting of a big marquee meeting at WrestleMania.

Before he can turn his attention to Edge though, AJ is set to compete at this Saturday night’s Elimination Chamber in the WWE Championship chamber match. With Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley, Austin Theory, Seth Rollins and Riddle standing in his way of winning a third WWE title.
