Airdrie handed plum draw in Premier Sports Cup group stages

AIrdrie have been handed a plum draw in the Premier Sports Group Stages, where they will face Premiership giants Aberdeen and derby rivals East Kilbride.

The group stages feature 40 clubs at this stage of the competition in eight groups, featuring five sides each.

Airdrie were placed in Group A alongside Aberdeen, Queen of the South, Dumbarton and East Kilbride.

Motherwell will also enjoy a Lanarkshire derby clash against Clyde in Group G, alongside Partick Thistle, Montrose and Elgin City

Hamilton Accies are in Group H, against Ross County, Raith Rovers, Stirling Albion and Stranraer.

Queen's Park are in Group C alongside Hibs, Kelty Hearts, Peterhead and Elgin City.

Livingston are in Group E alongside Dunfermline Athletic, Cove Rangers, The Spartans and Forfar Athletic.

Elsewhere, group B features Dundee United, Ayr United, Falkirk, Stenhousemuir and Buckie Thistle.

Dundee, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Arbroath, Annan Athletic and Bonnyrigg Rose are in Group D.

Group F features St Johnstone, Morton, Alloa, East Fife and Brechin City.

The first group stage games will be played on July 13 or 14, followed by July 16/17, 20/21, 23/24 and 27/28.

Second round clashes will be on August 17 or 18, quarter-finals on September 21 or 22, and semi-finals on November 2 or 3.

The final has been set for December 15 at Hampden.
