Air ambulance lands after child hit by car on busy road

Emergency services descended on a major road after a child was hit by a car.

Police and paramedics were seen in attendance on Droylsden Road, in Audenshaw, this afternoon (July 31).

It follows an incident on the road close to Audenshaw tram stop.

An air ambulance was seen landing on an area close to the scene.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed it was called out to a collision involving a car and a child this afternoon.

The child is expected to go to hospital. No arrests have been made so far, GMP says.

Part of the A662 Droylsden Road was closed off while emergency services respond to the incident, according to Google data.

Queues built up on surrounding roads, near to the Snipe retail park.

Further details about the nature of the incident are yet to be confirmed.

The road has since fully reopened.
