Aidan O'Rourke and Paddy Bradley to manage Donegal on Sunday

Aidan O'Rourke and Paddy Bradley will take charge of Donegal in Sunday's Allianz Football League Division 1 match against Roscommon, following the departure of manager Paddy Carr.

O'Rourke had served as head coach to Carr, who resigned from his role on Tuesday, with Bradley acting as a Donegal selector.

Carr's tenure lasted just five months and eight games in total, with Donegal bottom of Division 1 heading into the final round of games and almost certainly consigned to relegation.

In a brief statement, he said: "Following a discussion with some senior members of the Donegal football team, I want to announce that I'm stepping away from the position of Donegal team manager with immediate effect.

"I want nothing more than the best for Donegal and that will never change."

Donegal's remote prospects of remaining in the top tier depend on victory over the Rossies, Armagh losing by 15 points to Tyrone, and Mayo and Monaghan playing out a draw.

Meanwhile, a special county committee meeting has been pencilled in for this evening to update club delegates on fallout from Karl Lacey's resignation as head of the Donegal academy last month, with a host of coaches subsequently standing down in solidarity with him.

The Tir Chonaill men get their All-Ireland campaign under way against Down in Newry in the quarter-finals of the Ulster SFC on 23 April.
