Ahmed Musa’s magic wrecks Rangers in Enugu

Kano Pillars beat Flying Antelopes 4-3
Super Eagles’ former captain, Ahmed Musa, was in his element, yesterday, as he single-handedly wreaked defending champions, Rangers Football Club of Enugu, in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) game at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

Rangers, who won the NPFL title without losing a home game last season, could not fathom what hit them as the mesmerising Musa took Kano Pillars on a smooth ride over their hosts, to the admiration of even the Flying Antelopes’ supporters.

The home team knew that something was wrong when Kano Pillars raced to a 4-0 lead early in the game, with Musa making one goal, earning a penalty when he was brought down by a confused Rangers’ defender, and scoring a solo goal that brought the spectators to their feet.

Skipper Rabiu Ali opened the floodgate of goals in the 15th minute when he converted from the spot. Zakilliu Muhammad made it two in the 28th minute before Ali struck again from the spot when a goal-bound Musa was brought down in the 37th minute.

Musa capped a fantastic day for the Kano team in the 47th minute when he dribbled through the Rangers’ defense to make hay.

Enugu Rangers started a fight back early in the second half with Isaac Johnson Saviour reducing the tally to 4-1 two minutes after the restart.

Saviour struck again in the 59th minute, while Emmanuel Silas Nimrot struck in the 90th minute to ensure a frantic ending to the seven-goal thriller.

In Aba, Enyimba rallied from a goal down to hold visiting Niger Tornadoes to a 1-1 draw.
The Minna boys took the lead in the 42nd minute through Joseph Goldsmine, but Enyimba Ufere Chukwu equalised for the Peoples Elephant in the 76th minute.

In other matches yesterday, Nasarawa United defeated Abia
