After long-term injury, it's a 'blessing' to turn out for the Stormers again, says speedy Zas

Injuries are part of rugby, and every player knows that, but there's no denying that a long-term injury is something that's difficult to deal with when all you want to do is get back on the field.

For Stormers winger Leolin Zas, the timing couldn't be better as he has returned from injury at the business end of the United Rugby Championship.

And with the Stormers missing the services of another speedy winger in Seabelo Senatla, Zas's return to action is a blessing for John Dobson's charges.

Zas featured for the Stormers in their quarter-final against the Bulls at Cape Town Stadium last Saturday, scoring a try in their 33-21 win.

The lethal finisher was at the heart of the Stormers team that won the inaugural URC last year, but injury has limited him to just 11 appearances in all competitions this season.

Recovering from his latest setback has given the 27-year-old a fresh perspective, and he is hungrier than ever to get back to full active duty.

"First of all, it was just a blessing to be able to play again after a long time off with injury and against the Bulls at home," he told the Stormers website. 

"I think these are the things you dream of when you are a little boy, so I was very happy and blessed."

Speaking about playing in front of thunderous home support, Zas had nothing but praise for the Stormers supporters who flock to the stadium to scream the men in blue.

"I think personally we have the best supporters in Cape Town! The vibe is just different, and they just bring the best out of us," said Za.
