African players in Europe: Serial scorer Salah strikes twice
Mohamed Salah lifted his Premier League tally to 21 goals from 23 matches this season by scoring twice for leaders Liverpool in a 2-0 win away to Bournemouth at the weekend.
The 32-year-old Egypt captain has claimed 178 goals in the Premier League, placing him sixth in the all-time scoring chart.
It was a profitable weekend for African stars in the English top flight with eight scoring, including Beto from Guinea-Bissau, who netted twice for Everton in a 4-0 rout of Leicester City.

MOHAMED SALAH (Liverpool)
His penalty put Liverpool on course for victory as the leaders maintained their six-point advantage over second-placed Arsenal, with a match in hand. They took the lead in the first half when Salah netted with a penalty awarded after Cody Gakpo appeared to trip over his own feet rather than go down from Lewis Cook’s challenge. Salah struck again late in the second half.
PAPE SARR (Tottenham)
The Senegal midfielder helped ease the pressure on boss Ange Postecoglou with a goal in a 2-0 win at Brentford. Sarr netted in the 87th minute with a tap-in from Son Heung-min’s pass to wrap up Tottenham’s first victory in eight league games.
BETO (Everton)
Beto scored twice in Everton’s hammering of relegation rivals Leicester at Goodison Park. Beto struck in the sixth minute with a cool finish from James Tarkowski’s pass and netted again in first half stoppage-time to put Everton three goals up.
