AFLW round-up: Sarah Rowe on target in Collingwood victory

Mayo's Sarah Rowe grabbed a goal for Collingwood as they inflicted a 6.10 (46) to 2.2 (14) defeat on Greater Western Sydney to keep tabs with AFLW rivals Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne at the top of the table.

Collingwood kept Greater Western Sydney scoreless for three quarters in a dominant defensive display.

Steph Chiocci, who has captained the Magpies since the league's inaugural season in 2017, celebrated her 50th game with 13 disposals, four marks and a goal in the home win.

The Western Bulldogs were mauled by Melbourne as the Demons retained the latest edition of the annual Hampson-Hardeman Cup on a 10.13 (73) to 1.3 (9) scoreline.

Dublin's Sinéad Goldrick and Armagh's Blaithin Mackin both featured for the winners, with the impressive Goldrick finishing the game with nine disposals and four marks.

The 32-year-old was a key figure in breaking up the Bulldogs attacks from long balls, registering six intercepts.

Chloe's Scheer brace in the fourth quarter proved the difference as Geelong recorded a 6.7 (43) to 4.4 (28) victory over Essendon.

The sides were level at the end of the third quarter at Reid Oval, with the Bombers ultimately paying the price for squandering their dominance in possession.

Fermanagh's Joanne Doonan recorded eight disposals and two marks for Essendon in the defeat.
