AFLW round-up: Cora Staunton stars as GWS Giants finish their season in style
Cora Staunton celebrated becoming the first Irish woman to play 50 games in the AFLW by kicking a goal as the GWS Giants finished their season with a 7.2 (44) to 4.8 (32) victory over the Gold Coast Suns (GC Suns).
It was a dead rubber fixture, with both sides having missed out on a place in the finals series already, but the former Mayo attacker still showed how dangerous she can be with the early six-pointer from distance.
The goal was Staunton's eighth this season, while Cork's Bríd Stack had a busy afternoon with 11 disposals and two tackles.
At the Arden Street Oval, two-time All-Ireland winner Vikki Wall hit a behind as North Melbourne drew with Richmond to finish in eighth place.
Cork native Erika O'Shea came off injured with the Kangaroos having already secured a spot in the finals series.
