Nigeria on Thursday in Abidjan beat Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations. Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong scored the only goal of the game in the 55th minute from the penalty spot.

The penalty was awarded after Man of the Match Victor Osimhen was fouled in the Ivoirian penalty box but not before a lengthy VAR check.

Nigeria are now on four points after two group stage games, same as Equatorial Guinea who defeated Guinea-Bissau 4-2 in the day’s earlier game and sit top of Group A.

Cote d’Ivoire are third in the Group A standings with three points while Guinea-Bissau are bottom of the group without a point.
