AFC Wimbledon midfielder previously linked with Bolton Wanderers attracts Championship interest

Blackpool and Preston North End are tracking AFC Wimbledon midfielder and previously linked Bolton Wanderers target Anthony Hartigan according to reports.

The 22-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has rejected a new deal to stay at Plough Lane following the club's relegation to League Two for the forthcoming season. Hartigan is also attracting interest from Rotherham United according to the same report and was previously linked with Bolton Wanderers earlier in the season.

Five assists and a goal to his name in League One, for a side winless in 27 league games, has seemingly been enough to see the midfielder attract interest from afar. Wimbledon are entitled to a fee - despite the player becoming a free agent in June due to his under 24 status. This fee could well be set by a tribunal should the club he signs for not agree a fee upfront with the Dons.

With Bolton spending another campaign in League One as Ian Evatt looks for his side to step up again next season and push for promotion, Hartigan could well serve as a new central midfielder addition to strengthen that bid. Wanderers ended the season ninth in the table, ten points from the play-off places with Wycombe taking the final spot.

Wimbledon finished 23rd in League One under Mark Bowen following the dismissal of Mark Robinson in March. Hartigan impressed against Evatt's side earlier in the season with an assist and man of the match display for his side in a 3-3 draw.
