Adama Traore reveals why he chose to leave Wolves for Barcelona

Adama Traore has revealed his intentions for his loan move to Barcelona and believes he can continue to grow as a player after his switch from Wolves.

The flying winger joined the Spanish giants on Friday on a six-month loan deal with an option of a £30m permanent switch, and he has wasted no time in revealing what he hopes to gain from the move.

Traore told BarçaTV+., “I’m very happy to be back at Barça, where I grew up. This is a special moment for me.

“I had a conversation with Xavi, I know what he wants from me, I talked to him before signing.”

“My biggest goal is to learn, work, and grow everyday. An Adama who is the same as yesterday is a lost day. I also want to learn from the great coach, who has won many titles and is a legend of Barcelona.”

Traore has signed for his boyhood club on loan until the end of the season with the Nou Camp side holding an option to buy the player at the end of the season.

Barca are covering Traore 's wages in full while the player is in Catalonia with Wolves allowing the player to leave Molineux due to the lack of a breakthrough in contract talks with the 26 year-old.

Traore has been on the fringes of Wolves boss Bruno Lage 's squad in the past month with the Barcelona native's last start for the club coming in the middle of December.

Wolves released a statement of their own confirming their motive behind the deal, technical director Scott Sellars outlining a lack of progress in contract talks was a major reason in allowing Traore to leave.

"Adama has always acted with the utmost professionalism, however it is no secret that we have not been able to agree a new contract with him, despite protracted negotiations, and his desire at the moment is to play football elsewhere," Sellars
