Adama Traore has already revealed preference between Barcelona and Tottenham transfers

Barcelona have emerged as serious contenders to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore.

Tottenham Hotspur have been chasing Traore for most of the transfer window and saw a £15million bid rejected by Wolves last week.

But the north London club haven’t been able to reach an agreement with Wolves, despite talks over Traore resuming earlier this week.

Reports emerged on Wednesday evening to suggest Traore has been offered to Barcelona by intermediaries and a transfer is possible before Monday’s deadline.

Barcelona are searching for a replacement for Ousmane Dembele, who has been told to leave the club after failing to agree a new contract.

La Masia graduate Traore, valued at around £25m by Wolves, could now return to Barcelona.

Traore, 26, spent more than a decade at boyhood club Barcelona before leaving to join Aston Villa in 2015. During his time at the Camp Nou, Traore trained and played alongside current Barca head coach Xavi.

Traore scored once in four appearances for Barcelona’s first team, including a Champions League outing against Ajax in 2013 when Gerardo Martino was in charge.

Wolves supporters have become accustomed to speculation linking Traore with moves away from Molineux over the last two years, but his time with the club now appears to be nearing its conclusion.

Traore has refused a new contract and Wolves owners Fosun are looking to cash in.

The Spain international has always dreamed of returning to Barcelona and hasn’t hidden that fact when quizzed on the subject in the past.
