AC Milan may sell struggling Chukwueze in January

AC Milan is contemplating selling Super Eagles’ winger, Samuel Chukwueze, during the January transfer window, according to cultofcalcio.com.

Chukwueze had a promising pre-season but didn’t confirm his improvements once Serie A started. He’s been quickly tossed to the side after getting a pair of starts early.

Coach Paulo Fonseca has preferred fielding Tammy Abraham and Alvaro Morata together rather than Christian Pulisic as a no.10 as he had done in some friendlies.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Fantacalcio), a January departure of the Nigerian speedster can’t be ruled out. He’s under contract long-term, until 2028, but his valuation risks plummeting if he doesn’t turn things around.

Milan invested €20M to sign Chukwueze from Villarreal last year. He hasn’t been able to become a credible competitor for Rafael Leao and Pulisic during his time at San Siro. He’s also often been hampered by muscular problems.

Since he joined Milan, he has posted three goals and three assists in 40 total appearances.
Calciomercato reports that Atletico Madrid, West Ham, and Aston Villa are keeping an eye on the attacker in case he becomes available, while a transfer to Saudi Arabia could also emerge as a possibility.
