AC Milan eye €50m-rated Boniface as alternative to Zirkzee

Serie A giants AC Milan have reportedly identified Bayer Leverkusen Nigerian forward, Victor Boniface, as an alternative to Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee in the summer transfer window.

There are reports that French striker, Olivier Giroud, is expected to sign a contract with LAFC in June.

This will undoubtedly see Milan sign a new centre-forward ahead of the 2024–2025 season.

According to various Italian sources, Milan’s top target for the upcoming season is Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee.

However, it is believed that the Italian giants are also considering other options due to Zirkzee’s price tag which it is believed will exceed €50 million.

According to a recent Gazzetta report, Bologna may be seeking to sell Zirkzee for €75 million.

Corriere dello Sport has now reported that if Milan are unable to sign Zirkzee, Boniface is their backup option.

The report estimates that Boniface’s transfer value is between €40 and €50 million.

His current deal with Leverkusen will expire in June 2028.

Boniface recently returned to action for Bayer Leverkusen after between my sidelined since January with a groin injury.

The 23-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided eight assists in 25 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen.

He could help Xabi Alonso’s men land a treble this season.

The Bundesliga side are just one win away from landing a first-ever league title, will play in the German Cup final and are in the Europa League quarter-finals.
