‘Absolutely quality’ - Phil Hay blown away as Leeds footage emerges

Phil Hay has heaped praise on Raphinha for the key role he played in Joe Gelhardt’s late winner for Leeds United.

Jesse Marsch picked up his first win as Leeds United manager which was also the club’s first victory in their previous eight league matches stretching back to January and it couldn’t have been more dramatic with Joe Gelhardt netting an added-time winner.

While the young striker has attracted all the headlines for being a 19-year old that’s scored a winning goal in the Premier League, it was what happened beforehand that was equally as impressive with Raphinha showing composure in the last minute to scoop the ball past Tim Krull and pick out Gelhardt unmarked with his weak foot.

Hay has highlighted Raphinha’s dirty work before Gelhardt netted in the winner, as he tweeted out ‘Some goal and absolutely quality from Raphinha too.’

TIF Thoughts on Raphinha…

According to Hay, Raphinha and Marcelo Bielsa had words prior to him being sacked about the way he was hooked off at half time against Everton and then dropped ahead of the Manchester United game but now appears to be back to his best under Jesse Marsch, if his latest assist is anything to go by.

The winger has been linked with moves to the likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool but after just one goal in his last 12 league matches, he will have to show a better level of consistency to his game if a top club is to take a punt on him long-term.
