'Absolutely ludicrous' - Damning Everton verdict dropped on Sky Sports podcast

Sam Tighe has been speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast about Everton’s current position in the Premier League and how their squad is too good for the relegation battle they’re currently in.

Everton ended up having a very eventful but also successful window, as they fired and hired a manager while also managing to bring in four new players. However, they did see one of their best creative outlets in the form of Lucas Digne, who racked up 11 goal-creating actions last term, depart.

The Toffees will be hoping that Frank Lampard can arrive at Goodison Park and quickly turn around their fortunes, because if he doesn’t, they will certainly be slipping towards the bottom three as they’ve won just one of their previous 14 league outings, which is undoubtedly relegation form.

Given the number of internationals Everton have in their current squad and the fact they have added two players in the form of Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek, who have top-level experience, Tighe can’t understand how they are in a relegation scrap.

He said: “Every single player in his Everton team is playing below their perceived level.

“You scan through that team – on paper, what on earth is this team doing down there? And why and how have we got to the point where, over the last couple of months, there are very few teams in England you would be less confident in [them] winning, like Everton just have been on this ridiculous slide for the last two to three months.
