Everton ace drops subtle Instagram hint that he may now return vs Man City after weeks out

Demarai Gray has dropped a subtle hint on Instagram that he may now return for Everton at home to Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Gray has not featured for the Goodison Park faithful since the 3-1 loss away at Newcastle United just over two weeks ago, and while a convincing 3-0 win at home to Leeds United occurred three days later, Frank Lampard was given another reminder of how tough the job is going to be with a 2-0 defeat against Southampton over the weekend.

Nonetheless, City are a wounded animal after they lost 3-2 at home to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening, thus handing Liverpool some confidence in the title race.

Taking to Instagram (via EFC Daily), Gray has dropped a subtle hint that he could now return to the side against Pep Guardiola’s men.

He captioned a recent photo of him with his teammates on the pitch with an hourglass emoji, suggesting that he could return soon, with the game against the Sky Blues on the weekend.

City will still be hurting from their defeat to Spurs, and so if it was not already, it will be doubly difficult for the Merseyside club to get anything from the match.

To have any chance, they simply need Gray on the pitch, given his impact on the team. The winger is their top scorer in the top flight with five goals so far this season, while he also has two assists, and ranks highly among his teammates in terms of average shots, key passes and dribbles per match (WhoScored).

Nonetheless, the Toffees need him fully fit from now until the end of the campaign in order to avoid any relegation scares.
