'Absolute disgrace' - Josh Windass blasts supporter who attacked Sheffield United's Billy Sharp

Sheffield Wednesday forward Josh Windass has branded the man who allegedly assaulted Sheffield United skipper Billy Sharp at the end of the Blades' Championship play-off semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest an "absolute disgrace". Some Forest fans invaded the pitch after their shoot-out win and television footage showed one supporter charge at Sharp and knock him to the ground as the player stood on the sidelines.

Nottinghamshire Police have today confirmed that a man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. Owls star Windass had his say on the incident on Twitter last night. He wrote: "Absolute disgrace, a ban isn’t even enough for this guy, don’t know who some fans think they are that they can even attempt to do something like this!! Shocking."

Sharp, who spent time on loan at Forest in the 2012/13 season, needed stitches after the incident, according to United manager Paul Heckingbottom. "It's assault," Heckingbottom said.

Sharp said on social media this morning: "One mindless idiot ruined what was an unbelievable night of football. Congratulations to Nottingham Forest on their victory and good luck in the final.
