About the neighbours, Bafana and Namibia: Benni's fabulous four, Zungu's crucial Afcon nod

Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana come up against Namibia at Orlando Stadium on Saturday in a friendly squabble between neighbours, with the former being the noisier of the two in the history of the two teams.

The match kicks off at 15:00.

South Africa and their neighbours have a storied history which stretches back to 1998, when their first match post the 1994 democratic elections took place.

Since then, the two footballing nations have clashed twelve times, with Bafana having the considerable upper hand over the Brave Warriors.

Here, we take a deeper look at how the two nations have fared against each other in previous meetings over the years.

Bafana took the lead early on with Thabo Mooki, but Namibia’s Stanley Goagoseb cancelled it out minutes later.

Phil Masinga then put the visitors ahead as they looked to go out deserved winners before a last minute free-kick was slotted home by Bimbo Tjihero to take the game to extra-time.

Berlin Auchumeb scored the decisive winner for the Brave Warriors as they overcame their Southern African rivals 3-2 on the day and became only the third South African team to achieve this feat after Zambia and Zimbabwe.
