Aberdeen want up front payment of £5m for Liverpool target Ramsay

Aberdeen want an up front payment of £5million before agreeing to sell Calvin Ramsay to Liverpool.

The Anfield giants hoped to land the coveted Dons right-back for a fee of around £4m.

With talks reaching an advanced stage, however, Aberdeen are holding out for a total package worth £8.5m with add-ons.

And key to getting a deal over the line is the Champions League finalists agreeing to stump up another £1m as an up front payment.

Bologna are also keen on Ramsay and could make an offer if they sell Scotland defender Aaron Hickey for big money, with Brentford at the front of the queue for the former Hearts player.

The Serie A side had a loan-to-buy offer for Ramsay kicked out in January and are preparing a fresh move if they rake in a fee in excess of £18m for Hickey.

Ramsay himself is keen to make the move to Merseyside to work with Jurgen Klopp.

Seen as an understudy to Trent Alexander-Arnold, the 18-year-old has chipped in with nine assists and one goal in 39 appearances for the Pittodrie club.

Aberdeen are looking for big fees for Ramsay and Scotland midfielder Lewis Ferguson this summer as they looked to fund a summer rebuild for manager Jim Goodwin.

Liverpool are also closing in on a £68million deal for Benfica’s 22-year-old Uruguyan striker Darwin Nunez.
