Aaron Ramsey in Rangers fitness boost ahead of Celtic as Wales boss looks to the future

Wales manager Robert Page has dropped a hint on Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey 's selection for their clash with the Czech Republic.

While the experienced star's inclusion at Ibrox has been sporadic since his arrival on January's transfer deadline day, he played a big part in Wales World Cup play-off win over Austria.

The Czechs visit Cardiff on Tuesday for a DEC humanitarian appeal match to raise funds for war-torn Ukraine after they were knocked out of contention for Qatar 2022 by Sweden.

Scots head coach Steve Clarke will no doubt have one eye on the game with a potential play-off final with the Welsh to come this June, but Ramsey might be benched for youthful options.

With the crucial clash against Celtic around the corner, the cautiou approach could come as a boost to Gio van Bronckhorst.

Page said: “We have got to be sensible. We’ve got a duty of care to the players.

“I’m not going to punish the players again by giving them another 90 minutes against a very good team.

“It’s a great opportunity now because it’s a friendly game and we can use that to our benefit.

“We can give some of the younger players an opportunity to gain international experience and minutes on the pitch. There will be changes made, absolutely.”

Ramsey joined Rangers on loan from Juventus in January and has made three Premiership appearances.
