Aaron Ramsdale's cheeky comment to Mason Mount about Frank Lampard

Mason Mount‘s rise to superstardom has been quite a story.

At the age of just 23, the Chelsea man is now recognised as one of the best attacking midfielders in world football.

In 2021/22 he enjoyed a superb individual campaign, netting 13 goals and assisting 16 more across all competitions.

Mount also famously assisted Chelsea’s winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City, which was scored by Kai Havertz.

The Portsmouth-born midfielder is a firm fan favourite these days and a lot of his success in west London is down to successful loan spells earlier on his career.

Mount spent the 2017/18 campaign on loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem, where he bagged 14 goals and assisted a further 10 in 39 appearances.

The following season he was loaned out again, this time to Derby County.

Mount worked under Frank Lampard for the very first time and thrived under him, contributing to 17 goals (11G, 6A) throughout the 2018/19 season.

Lampard was then the man who gave Mount his chance in the Chelsea first-team when he took over from Maurizio Sarri as manager in the summer of 2019.

Given that Lampard was the man who helped nurture Mount, offered him his big break at Chelsea and played in a similar role, many have cheekily referred to him as the player’s ‘dad’.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale did just that when he and Mount were looking at their FIFA Ultimate Team cards from yesteryear.

When the Chelsea star picked up his 74-rated card from FIFA 19 from the Derby days, his England colleague just couldn’t resist.

Check out the clip that’s now doing the rounds on social media…
