Aaron Ramsdale says Arsenal are targeting silverware this season and opened up about trophy banter with other clubs ahead of the clash with Tottenham.

The Gunners, top of the Premier League table after their opening seven games, host their fierce rivals on Saturday for the first north London derby of the season.

Arsenal’s last major trophy came in 2019-20 when they won the FA Cup under current boss Mikel Arteta.

But Spurs have not won a major trophy since lifting the League Cup in 2008 and the club are routinely ridiculed for their lack of recent silverware.

Like Arsenal, Antonio Conte’s side, third in the table, have enjoyed a strong start to the 2022-23 season and are unbeaten after their first seven top-flight games.

Pundits have tipped both clubs to challenge for silverware this term and speaking to the Joe Cole Cast, Arsenal goalkeeper Ramsdale said: ‘Personally I’d want to win the Europa League.

‘If that means we sacrifice by finishing fifth in the league, you still qualify for the Champions League and you win silverware with it.
