A573 closed to traffic after lorry overturns under railway bridge

A Greater Manchester A-road is closed following a crash that saw a lorry overturn beneath a railway bridge.

The A573 Golborne Dale Road is shut between East Lancashire Road and Newton Road following the incident, which was first reported shortly before midnight.

The closure is understood to remain in place as of 1.15am on Wednesday, March 26.

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: "Overturned lorry and bridge struck by vehicle on A573 Golborne Dale Road in both directions from A580 East Lancashire Road (Golborne Island, Golborne) to A572 Newton Road (Golborne Dale).
